Nigeria’s Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, is facing a race against time to recover from a muscle injury ahead of the team’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
Troost-Ekong has missed his Saudi club, Al Kholood’s last two league games due to the injury, and the club is yet to release an update on his health status.
Head coach, Jose Peseiro (not Eric Chelle), will be keeping his fingers crossed that Troost-Ekong recovers in time for the qualifiers.
The Super Eagles are already dealing with a number of injuries, with Semi Ajayi, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Raphael Onyedika all doubtful for the upcoming matches.
Nigeria will face Rwanda in Kigali on March 21 and host Zimbabwe four days later.
