Christy Ucheibe wins fifth Taça da Liga title with Benfica Feminino

Christy Ucheibe is a champion again. On Sunday, she lifted her fifth Taça da Liga title with her club side, Benfica Feminino.

The defending champions took on rivals Sporting Lisbon in the final and secured their third consecutive title.

Ucheibe started in midfield as Benfica Feminino came from a goal down to defeat Sporting Lisbon at the Dr. Magalhães Pessoa Stadium.

Portuguese forward Diana Silva gave Sporting Lisbon an early lead as she scored in the ninth minute.

Lais equalized in the 20th minute to restore parity for Benfica.

The match was headed from extra time until Carole Costa secured the winner with two minutes to the end of regular time.

Benfica retained its title as they take the tally to five in the last five years.

Christy Ucheibe shared pictures of lifting the trophy and celebrating with her teammates on her Instagram page. 

The Super Falcons midfielder has won 11 trophies at the club since she arrived in 2020 from Nasarawa Amazons in the Nigeria Women’s Football League.
