Lazio missed an opportunity to climb to fourth place in Serie A after being held to a 1-1 draw by Udinese at the Stadio Olimpico on Monday.
The match began with both teams displaying cautious play, leading to limited goal-scoring opportunities in the opening minutes. However, Udinese broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute.
Florian Thauvin capitalized on a defensive lapse, maneuvering past defenders to face goalkeeper Ivan Provedel. Although Provedel parried Thauvin’s initial attempt, the rebound found Lorenzo Lucca, whose mis-hit overhead kick inadvertently assisted Thauvin, allowing him to slot the ball into the net.
Lazio responded ten minutes later. A corner kick taken by Gustav Isaksen found Matías Vecino, who directed a header toward the far post. Defender Alessio Romagnoli reacted swiftly, tapping the ball in from close range to level the score.
The second half saw limited action, with neither side able to create significant chances. Lazio’s attempts to inject creativity by introducing substitutes Pedro and Patric failed to break the deadlock. Udinese also struggled to pose a threat, resulting in a stalemate.
This result leaves Lazio in fifth place, one point behind Juventus, while Udinese remains mid-table.
