Manchester City edged closer to securing Champions League qualification with a late 2-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday. Goals from Nico O’Reilly and Mateo Kovacic in the final five minutes gave the champions a vital 3 points.
O’Reilly poked in a close-range goal from Matheus Nunes’s low cross, before Kovacic fired home from the edge of the box.

City, now fourth with 58 points from 33 matches, sit four points clear of sixth-placed Chelsea and seventh-placed Aston Villa, though they’ve played one game more. The top five teams qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Despite dominating, City struggled to create clear chances for 85 minutes. Everton, who stay 13th with 38 points, came close when James Tarkowski’s first-half header hit the post from a corner, but that was their best chance of the game.
City tightened their grip on the game in the closing stage,s and once O’Reilly opened the scoring, the fight went out of the home side.
