Tottenham clinch Europa League final spot with commanding win over Bodø/Glimt

Tottenham Hotspur have secured their place in the UEFA Europa League final after a composed 2-0 victory over Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt in the semi-final second leg, completing a 5-1 aggregate triumph.

Goals from Dominic Solanke and Pedro Porro in the second half ensured Spurs’ progression to their first European final since 2019.

Playing on Bodø/Glimt’s challenging artificial pitch in the Arctic Circle, Spurs adopted a disciplined and pragmatic approach. Despite the home side’s early pressure, Tottenham’s defense, marshaled by Destiny Udogie and Micky van de Ven, remained resolute.

Midfielders Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur effectively disrupted the hosts’ rhythm, limiting their attacking opportunities.

The breakthrough came in the second half when Solanke capitalized on a well-executed corner to put Spurs ahead. Shortly after, Porro’s cross fortuitously found the net, doubling the lead and effectively sealing the tie.

A late VAR intervention overturned a penalty awarded to Bodø/Glimt, preserving Tottenham’s clean sheet.

Under the guidance of manager Ange Postecoglou, in his second season at the helm, Tottenham now look forward to an all-English final against Manchester United at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao on May 21.

Despite a challenging domestic season, with Spurs languishing in 16th place in the Premier League, their European campaign has been a beacon of hope.

This final presents an opportunity for Spurs to end their 17-year trophy drought and secure a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
