Former Barcelona star David Villa has made a bold prediction for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
The ex-Spain international believes Lamine Yamal deserves the award, highlighting the 17-year-old’s outstanding performances for Barcelona this season.
Yamal faces stiff competition from players like Mohamed Salah, Raphinha, and PSG’s Ousmane Dembele.
Speaking at a public event, Villa said of Yamal (via Barca Universal):
“We will see, I think he has done well. There are still a few weeks left in the season, and you know it is an award that I have never really believed in. He will win it one day, for sure.”
Yamal has scored 16 goals and contributed 24 assists across all competitions in what has been a stellar year for the generational talent.
His dynamic displays on the wing have captivated fans and pundits alike. The young star is among the favorites for this year’s Ballon d’Or, thanks to his stellar contributions for the Catalan club.
The winger has shone under Hansi Flick’s management and has already lifted the Copa del Rey with Barcelona this season.
