Impressed with the performance of the 23-year-old exquisite forward, Scottish Premier League side, St Mirren have signed Roland Idowu on permanent basis.
Roland Idowu signed a two-year contract with St. Mirren and will return to The Smisa Stadium ahead of the 2025/2026 football season.
The 23-year-old forward joins St. Mirren for an undisclosed fee after an impressive loan spell from Shrewsbury Town.
St. Mirren had initially released a statement citing Roland Idowu had returned to Shrewsbury Town but the club was working to sign him permanently.
Ryan Alebiosu, Zach Hemming and Roland Idowu all return to their respective parent clubs following the expiry of their loan deals.
“Discussions are ongoing with all three players’ parent clubs as we look to bring them back to the club for next season.
“The club is continuing the hard work behind the scenes to add to the core of players already under contract for next season.”
Idowu became an integral member of Steve Robinson’s side towards the end of the season. He scored the winning goal in the 3-2 win over Ross County as he helped the club secure a place in the top six.
Steve Robinson’s expressed his delight at the signing of Idowu. He revealed that other Scottish Premier League sides were interested in signing him.

He also heaped praises on the forward as he disclosed that he offers not just goals but creativity for his team.
*Roland is a very talented player and offers us something different. He can play in numerous positions and gives us a creative outlet that we have maybe missed at times.
“It took him a little bit of time to adjust to the levels here, but you could see towards the end of the season that he was reaching those levels and had become an important player for us.
“There was a lot of interest in Roland from other Scottish Premiership and English League One sides so I’m delighted we’ve managed to get him here on a permanent deal.”
Despite starting slowly, Roland Idowu’s confidence grew as he went in to make 31 appearances in all competitions for the Saints with four goals and two assists.
The forward was also instrumental as St. Mirren went unbeaten in the Championship group with two wins and four draws to finish in sixth place.
Roland Idowu offers Steve Robinson options in midfield and in the final third of the pitch. Hence, his permanent signing.
