A Cristiano Ronaldo second half goal secured a famous win for Portugal over Germany as they progress to the final of the 2024/2025 UEFA Nations League.
Ronaldo found himself at the right spot to tap the ball into an empty net from a brilliant Nuno Mendes’ pass to seal the win.
Florian Wirtz put the Germans ahead in front of their home fans early in the second half with a fine header from Joshua Kimmich’s cross.
The Germans could have taken the lead in the first half having domainted but Diogo Costa made the difference with two important saves.
However, Roberto Martinez”s second half changes helped the maiden edition champions gain control of the game in the second half with the introduction of Vitinha and Conceicao.

FC Porto winger Francisco Conceicao equalized minutes after stepping onto the pitch as he placed the ball into the Neuer’s far left corner from a solo run.
Six minutes later, Champions League winner, Nuno Mendes returned to the ground where he won the trophy in style as he provided the assist to Ronaldo’s 137th international goal – his 937th career goal.
Portugal held on to their slim lead to record a win over German for the first time in 25 years.
The 2019 champions will take on either France or Spain in the final on June 8.
