AFCON 2025
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup starts this weekend in the United States and for the first time 32 teans across Africa, Asia, Europe, South and North America and Oceania will compete for the title.
Reigning champions of Europe, Paris Saint-Germain, 15-time European champions Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Palmeiras, Botafogo are some of the teams participating in the competition.
Even though the tournament has come under criticisms considering its timing among other factors, some of the biggest football stars will feature in it.
This post takes a look at some of the biggest stars participating at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Top five players at the FIFA Club World Cup
1. Ousmane Dembele
One of the favorites to win this year’s Ballon D’or after a remarkable season with PSG as he lef the Parisiens to a treble – the Champions League, Ligue 1 and Coupe De France. Dembele scored 33 goals, provided 15 assists in 49 matches for PSG in the 2024/2025 season.
2. Kylian Mbappe
Even though Real Madrid ended the season on a disappointing note – trophyless, Kylian Mbappe had a fantastic debut season as he won the European golden. Mbappe comes into the tournament with the target of winning his second title as a Real Madrid player after the FIFA Intercontinental Cup triumph in 2024.
3. Vinicius Jr.
The Real Madrid forward also had a decent individual season. The 24-year-old Brazilian winger is a dynamic force, with 19 goals and 12 assists in 51 matches for Real Madrid in the 2024-25 season. He won the Golden Ball Award after Real Madrid beat Pachuca to win the 2024 FIFA International Cup in Lusail, Qatar.
4. Harry Kane
The 31-year-old English striker enjoyed a career-best 2024-25 season, as he scored 26 goals in 31 Bundesliga matches and winning his first major title as Bayern reclaimed the Bundesliga. Harry Kane for his goal-scoring prowess and leadership, Kane is expected to spearhead Bayern’s challenge in the tournament.
5. Lionel Messi
The football legend will look to carry Inter Miami on his shoulders in the competition. Even though, he’s no longer playing in Europe, Messi is the biggest star in the FIFA Club World Cup. Measi is enjoying a fantastic start to the season in the MLS with 10 goals and seven assists in 13 matches. He also has five goals in seven matches at the ongoing CONCACAF Champions League.
