Former Real Madrid and Barcelona midfielder Luis Figo has outlined why he believes Kylian Mbappe is unlikely to claim the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
Despite Mbappe’s individual success in his debut season at Real Madrid, the club fell short of securing major trophies.

Figo, a former Ballon d’Or winner, emphasized that Mbappe’s lack of team silverware could hinder his chances for the prestigious award. Speaking to AS, Figo commented on the France captain’s prospects:
“Things weren’t so great at first, but he’s done well since then. He’s scored a lot of goals and has adapted to playing for Real Madrid, which is totally different from playing for any other team.

“What could rule him out for individual trophies is his lack of major team titles, but we’ll see what happens.
“Mbappe is a name that is always on the lists of the best in the world.”
The 26-year-old scored 43 goals in his debut season and is expected to play a part for Los Blancos as they aim to win the Club World Cup.
