Ex-wife of former Super Eagles forward, Odion Ighalo has publicly expressed disappointment over what she described as continued embarrassment to their children, following Ighalo’s latest alleged sex scandal.

In a message shared via her Instagram Story, Sonia stated that she was initially unaware of the online controversy until she began receiving numerous notifications and follow requests from fans tagging her in connection to the trending issue.

“I had no idea that my ex-husband was making headlines due to his escapades. It is truly disheartening that this man continues to humiliate his children in such a manner. We have a 15-year-old who has access to social media,” she wrote.

Sonia and Ighalo separated in 2019 and finalized their divorce in 2022. Since then, she has often maintained a dignified silence around matters concerning her former partner. In her post, she emphasized her efforts to remain focused on her children and avoid being drawn into public drama.

“You can’t read these things about me online. I carry myself so well and have a lot of respect for my gorgeous children,” she added.

She also shed light on her growth since the split, noting that she now draws strength and motivation from a new relationship. Sonia expressed appreciation for her current partner, crediting him with helping her become a better version of herself.

“I hold my man in high regard and I cannot bear the thought of letting him down,” she noted, alluding to how much she has matured emotionally.

Ending on a lighter note, she referenced a missed call from her uncle, humorously suggesting that her family may have expected a fiery response akin to her past reactions. However, she maintained that the “Sonia of today” is different, more composed, and uninterested in rehashing old battles.

Sonia’s statement has sparked further conversation online, as many continue to weigh in on the latest development surrounding the former Nigerian international.
