Breaking! Junior DTigress stun China at Under-19 World Cup

Nigeria Under-19 women’s basketball team, the Junior DTigress marked their debut appearance at the World Championship with a historic win.

The Junior DTigress stunned China on Saturday afternoon with a resounding 93-88 victory at the Starez Arena Voldova in Bruno, Czech Republic.

Led by coach Faustina Juliana, the Nigerian girls put up a spirited performance in the last three quarters to upset the Chinese.

Nigeria started slowly as they lost the first quarter 24-16 as shit below 50% from both the two and three points lines.

The Nigerian ladies improved on their shooting as they reduced the deficit to just five points as the second quarter ended 44-39.

However, the Junior DTigress went off the hook in the third quarter as they outscored their opponents by seven points.

The Junior DTigress punished the Chinese from the three-point line as they made 80% of their attempts.

Despite a late charge the Nigerian ladies held on to record a 93-88 win over China.

Power Forward Ezike Nora was the most outstanding player of the match as she scored 25 points and made six rebounds.

Iduamo Beggi posted 18 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists while Tobenna Nwewke scored 15 points, 4 assists and a rebound.

The Junior DTigress will take on Canada in their next game on Sunday, July 13.
