Chelsea have reportedly finalized a €40 million deal to sign Ajax’s talented centre-back Jorrel Hato, according to sources.
Talks between Chelsea and Ajax gained momentum last week following Chelsea’s formal approach for the 19-year-old Netherlands international.
The Athletic reports that both clubs have now settled on a transfer fee, with Hato set to undergo a medical. As part of the agreement, Ajax secured a sell-on clause for the promising defender.
Hato will mark Chelsea’s fourth signing of the summer, joining Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens, alongside other new arrivals Estevao Willian, Kendry Paez, Dario Essugo, and Mamadou Sarr at Stamford Bridge.
The young Dutch star also drew attention from Arsenal, and speculation about a potential move to Liverpool surfaced after he was spotted at Anfield during a match in January.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are actively negotiating with RB Leipzig to sign their 22-year-old Dutch midfielder Xavi Simons.
