Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is a doubt for next month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
Nwabali played only 35 minutes in Chippa United’s 1-0 loss at Richards Bay on Tuesday during a league match.
The 29-year-old sustained what looks like an injury to his back after making a brilliant save to keep Chippa United in the game.
Stanley Nwabali is now a doubt for the Super Eagles as they prepare to take on Rwanda and South Africa next month.
The former Enyimba shot stopper was included in Eric Chelle’s provisional list for the qualifiers alongside Amas Obasogie, Adebayo Adeleye, and 15-year-old sensation Ebenezer Harcourt.
With Maduka Okoye suspended and the other three backups untested, the Super Eagles’ chances of securing maximum points in both games become further threatened.
The Super Eagles will take on Rwanda on September 6 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium and South Africa in Bloemfontein three days later as they look to salvage their World Cup chances.
