Ikorodu City are back in the top four of the Nigeria Premier Football League after seeing off Rivers United.
The Oga Boys hosted the Pride of Rivers at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Monday afternoon with the aim of not just ending their three-game winless streak but also getting back into the continental spot.
Rivers United came into the tie with the hope of increasing their lead over Enugu Rangers at the top of the table after the loss at Shooting Stars.
However, Finidi George’s poor record on the road came to bear once again as they slumped to a 1-0 loss to the hosts.
Folarin Temitope pounced on a rebound from Salami Farouk’s shot to give Ikorodu City the only goal of the game in the second half.
Ikorodu City are now third on the log with 48 points following the win over Rivers United with eight games left.
Rivers United with a game in hand are still top of the league with 52 points.
