Ademola Lookman is set to undergo medical tests after he sustained an injury during Atlético Madrid’s Copa del Rey final loss to Real Sociedad on Saturday.
According to a report by Marca, the Super Eagles forward will receive an examination on Monday after he came off injured with an adductor problem in the second half of the match.
The Nigerian winger scored in the 2-2 draw in regular time before Real Sociedad clinched the title 4-3 on penalties at the La Cartuja.
Ademola Lookman stood out as one of Atlético’s top performers on the night before his withdrawal and delivered an impressive display in the first half.
He not only scored a goal but also consistently troubled his marker, Aramburu, with his movement and attacking threat. Atlético substituted Lookman in the 62nd minute after he began struggling physically.
Initial assessments indicate a strain in his adductor muscle, though doctors will not know the full extent of the injury until they complete further medical evaluation.
The club will conduct an MRI scan to determine whether any significant damage exists. Atlético hopes the results will not reveal a severe issue that could sideline the forward ahead of the crunch Champions League semi-final against Arsenal.
Lookman has already registered seven goals and four assists in 18 appearances, which emphasizes his importance to Atlético’s attacking options.
