Samsunspor dismantle Osimhen’s Galatasaray to postpone title celebration

Galatasaray will have to wait until match day 33 to know whether they will be crowned champions of the Turkish Super Lig for the 26th time.

The champions went into the tie looking to get a win and consequently celebrate their successful title defence.

However, things didn’t go as planned for Victor Osimhen and his teammates as they fell. to.a heavy defeat despite scoring first.

Victor Osimhen teed up Yunus Akgun for the opener after nine minutes to give the visitors the lead.

The lead lasted until the 22nd minute as Chadian forward Marius grabbed the equaliser for the host.

Senegalese forward Cherif Ndiaye gave Samsunspor the lead as he collected a pass from Marius in the box before unleashing a strike into the far corner.

Galatasaray’s night turned sour as Gunay Guvenc bagged a straight red card as the Lions were reduced to 10 men.

Marius and Ndiaye got on the score sheet again as Samsunspor wrapped a comprehensive 4-1 win over Galatasaray.

The loss postpones Galatasaray’s title celebration until next week when they welcome Antalyas to the Rams Park.

Galatasaray still maintains their spot at the top of the log with 74 points while Fenerbache are behind with 70 points.
