Cristiano Ronaldo was left distraught as Al Nassr missed out on celebrating their Saudi Pro League title win on Tuesday night due to a late error from Brazilian goalkeeper Bento.
The five-time Balon D’or winner sank to the bench after full-time in pain, anguish, and disbelief after the visitors grabbed the equaliser in the final seconds of the match.
A win for Al Nassr against Al Hilal on Tuesday night would have given the hosts the new champions of the Saudi Pro League after leading till the eighth minute of added time.
French defender Mohamed Simakan gave Al Nassr the lead in the 37th minute with a one-time shot into the bottom corner after a melee in the box off a corner-kick.
Al Nassr defended for most of the second half as they protected their lead, with Bento making a couple of saves to deny Al Hilal from getting the equalizer.
Unfortunately, the Brazilian goalkeeper capitulated in the final moments of the tense encounter as he failed to hold the ball in the air with his hands after an inadvertent nudge from his teammate.
The ball landed inside the net as the match ended 1-1, which means Al Nassr needs a win to secure their first Saudi Pro League title since 2019.
Al Nassr remains at the top of the league with 83 points while Al Hilal are five points behind with a game in hand after 32 matches.
