The National Sports Commission (NSC), in partnership with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has constituted a seven-member Welfare Committee to oversee the well-being of the Super Falcons during their title defence at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
NFF Executive Board member Aisha Falode will chair the committee, while Ruth David has been appointed as Secretary. Other members include Rt. Hon. Margaret Icheen, Babagana Kalli, Emeka Iyama, Aderonke Tinuoye, and Tobechukwu Oluchi.
The committee was established to ensure the players enjoy a seamless and distraction-free campaign throughout the tournament, with a strong focus on welfare, logistics, and prompt resolution of any issues that may arise.
Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade, said the Federal Government is fully committed to creating the right environment for the Super Falcons to successfully defend their continental crown.
According to Olopade, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu are personally invested in the team’s success, making the formation of the ad-hoc committee a key step in supporting the NFF and ensuring a hitch-free campaign in Morocco.
“Welfare is an unnegotiable key part of any team’s competition success, and with this committee, the players can rest assured that the NSC and NFF are taking their welfare very seriously for the WAFCON,” Olopade said.
The Super Falcons head into the 2026 WAFCON aiming to retain their status as Africa’s most successful women’s national team, with the newly constituted committee expected to provide the support needed for another successful campaign.
