Kelechi Iheanacho struck twice as Bursaspor came from behind to beat Manisa FK 2-1 in the Turkish 1. Lig on Monday, with the Nigerian forward netting a stoppage-time winner to extend his remarkable scoring run.
Manisa FK took a surprise lead in the 20th minute through Cheikne Sylla, but Iheanacho restored parity just seven minutes later, firing home to level the contest before half-time.
With the game seemingly heading for a draw, Iheanacho popped up again in stoppage time to complete his brace and hand Bursaspor all three points in dramatic fashion.
The result extended Iheanacho’s scoring streak to six consecutive matches, taking his season tally to eight goals and two assists in just six appearances since joining the club as a free agent from Celtic in July.
Bursaspor’s victory moved them up to second in the Turkish 1. Lig standings on 15 points, just one behind unbeaten leaders Batman Petrolspor, as the club continues its push for a swift return to the Super Lig.
Iheanacho’s form has been relentless since arriving in Turkey, and he has yet to fail to score in a single appearance for Bursaspor, putting him firmly among the frontrunners for the division’s Golden Boot.
Bursaspor will look to maintain their momentum when they host Esenler Erokspor on Sunday, September 13, as Iheanacho continues to push his case for a recall to the Super Eagles ahead of Nigeria’s AFCON qualifiers.
