Barcelona have made a statement early in the 2026/27 LaLiga campaign.
After seven matches, Hansi Flick’s side are perfect: seven wins from seven, 21 points, 31 goals scored and just 7 conceded. They also followed that start by beating Sevilla 3–1 away from home on Matchday 7.
There is still a long way to go, and Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid and the rest of the league will provide serious challenges. But Barcelona have already shown several qualities that could make them champions again.
Here are three reasons Barcelona could lift the LaLiga trophy at the end of the season.
1. Their attack has become frighteningly productive
The most obvious reason is simple: Barcelona are scoring goals at an extraordinary rate.
They had already scored 31 goals in their opening seven league matches, including a 5–0 demolition of Valencia and a 7–2 victory over Racing Santander.
And the goals are not coming from one player alone.
Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Pedri, Fermín López and Gabriel Jesus have all contributed, giving Flick several different routes to goal. Raphinha, in particular, has started the season in spectacular form, while Yamal continues to be one of Barcelona’s biggest attacking outlets.
That variety matters over a 38-game season. When one player has an off day, Barcelona have enough attacking quality to find another solution.
2. Hansi Flick has a squad with remarkable depth
Barcelona’s 2026/27 squad is considerably deeper across several positions.
Flick can call upon established names such as Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Dani Olmo, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, while the club have also added players including Gabriel Jesus, Karim Adeyemi, Anthony Gordon, João Cancelo, Rodri and goalkeeper Joan García.
That depth could become particularly important as the season progresses.
Barcelona will have to navigate LaLiga alongside European and domestic cup commitments. Injuries, suspensions and fatigue are almost inevitable, so having quality options on the bench could make the difference during the decisive months.
Flick therefore has more than just a strong starting XI. He has multiple combinations available to him.
3. Barcelona have started the title race with momentum
Perhaps the biggest reason for optimism is the way Barcelona have begun the campaign.
Seven consecutive league victories before means they had already created an early gap over Real Madrid, who had collected 15 points from their opening six matches.
More importantly, Barcelona have demonstrated that they can win in different circumstances.
They have produced dominant home performances, scored heavily against opponents and also gone on the road to pick up important victories. Their latest 3–1 win at Sevilla further extended that perfect league start.
Of course, September does not decide the LaLiga title. There are still months of football ahead, including two El Clásicos and plenty of difficult away fixtures.
But if Barcelona can maintain this combination of goals, squad depth and consistency, they will put themselves in a strong position to defend their crown.
