Super Eagles of Nigeria forward Ademola Lookman is one of the 30 football players nominated for the 2024 Men’s Ballon d’Or.
Lookman received a lot of attention when the Ballon d’Or X account revealed the nomination list.

The Atalanta forward is the only African on the shortlist for this year’s prize.
Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, Rodri, Erling Haaland, Bukayo Saka, and Kylian Mbappe are among the players he will compete against for the award.
Lookman had a fantastic season at Atalanta, scoring a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final to help his team win an European title.
To start the year, Lookman was the talisman in attack as the Super Eagles of Nigeria lost in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
He was also instrumental in Atalanta’s run to the Coppa Italia final, even though Juventus defeated them 1-0.
Lookman had a great start to the season as Atalanta lost to Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup final.
Although there have been rumors that Lookman is leaving Atalanta, he is anticipated to have a fantastic Champions League season now that the transfer window has closed.
Lookman is currently practicing with the Super Eagles in Uyo ahead of their 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Rwanda and Benin Republic.
Lookman is expected to attend the 68th Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris on October 29, 2024, along with other nominees.
UEFA will co-organize the event for the first time, with France Football handling voting and maintaining the process for the Ballon d’Or award.
