Victor Osimhen’s loan move to Galatasaray will not stop Chelsea from making a move for the Nigerian.

The Blues’ interest in the Napoli forward remains strong according to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

“The appreciation in Osimhen from top clubs around Europe remains strong,” Romano said.

Although Chelsea’s late summer transfer window offer fell short of Osimhen’s terms, they’re open to revisiting talks in the future.

Romano noted that Galatasaray’s willingness to cover Osimhen’s salary makes the loan deal beneficial for Napoli, but emphasised that Chelsea’s admiration for the 25-year-old Nigerian striker could lead to a January bid.

“Galatasaray will cover his salary, so for Napoli, this loan is a good solution, but the appreciation of several clubs, especially Chelsea, remains.”

Osimhen’s loan deal includes a break clause, allowing him to depart to one of 10 pre-determined clubs in January. Galatasaray do not have a buy option.

Osimhen played a pivotal role in Napoli’s Serie A title win in 2023, scoring 26 goals and bagging the league’s top scorer award. After a deadline day exit fell through, there was no way back for the striker with Napoli boss Antonio Conte making it clear that the door was shut.

The reigning CAF Player of the Year will now hope to use this move to rebuild his career.
