Zambia Dominates Tanzania in Group A
Zambia commenced their Group A journey with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Tanzania at El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia.
The Zambian side took an early lead in the 8th minute through Jonathan Kalimina. Abel Nyirongo, Mike Mutale and Gabriel Phiri were the other goalscorers for the Zambians.
Tanzania managed a consolation goal in stoppage time through Juma Sagwe but couldn’t overcome Zambia’s dominance.
Burkina Faso Edges Cameroon in Group B
In a closely contested Group B encounter at Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Burkina Faso secured a 2-1 win over Cameroon.
Asharaf Tapsoba was the standout performer, netting both goals for Burkina Faso in the 19th and 41st minutes.
Cameroon responded with a goal in the 75th minute through David Nyangono but couldn’t find the equalizer.
South Africa Triumphs Over Egypt in Seven-Goal Thriller
The day’s most exhilarating match saw South Africa edge out Egypt 4-3 in a Group B clash at Larbi Zaouli Stadium.
South Africa opened the scoring in the 1st minute, with Neo Bohloko adding two penalties in the 27th and 41st minutes.
Despite Egypt’s spirited comeback, including two goals from Anas Roshdi, South Africa held on for a vital victory.
