Burkina Faso and Morocco have booked their places in the semi-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations following dominant displays in their respective quarter-final clashes.
The Young Stallions delivered a dominant 6-1 victory over Zambia securing a spot in the semi-finals for the second consecutive time.
Mohamed Fofana opened the scoring early, with Souleymane Tapsoba and Issouf Diakité both adding braces. Despite a lone goal from Zambia’s Abel Salim Nyirongo, the Young Stallions outclassed their opponents in all departments.
Tapsoba now leads the tournament’s scoring chart with seven goals, as Burkina Faso continues its push for a second continental title.
In the other quarter-final tie, Morocco secured a semi-final spot with a 3-1 win over South Africa in Mohammedia.
Ismail El Aoud gave the hosts an early lead before Neo Bohloko equalized for South Africa in the second half.
However, Ziyad Baha quickly responded with two goals in quick succession to restore and extend Morocco’s lead.
The Atlas Cubs managed the game well, with strong defensive organization and key saves from Chouaib Bellaarouch sealing the victory.
Morocco joins Burkina Faso in the semi-finals as they continue their pursuit of the title on home soil.
