Cacereño Femenino, having previously eliminated top-tier teams Valencia and Athletic Bilbao, entered the match with high hopes of continuing their giant-killing run. Throughout the game, they showcased resilience and determination, effectively neutralizing Atlético’s attacking threats during the standard 90 minutes.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 116th minute when Nigerian international, Rasheedat Ajibade, capitalized on a loose ball in the penalty area, slotting it past the goalkeeper to give Atlético a 1-0 lead.
As Cacereño pushed forward in search of an equalizer, Atlético seized the opportunity to double their advantage. In the 120th minute, Sheila Guijarro launched a remarkable shot from the center circle, catching the opposition’s goalkeeper off guard and sealing the 2-0 victory for Atlético.
This win propels Atlético Madrid Femenino into the semi-finals of the Copa de la Reina, bringing them one step closer to clinching the prestigious title.
