Nigerian striker Akor Adams has completed a permanent transfer from Spanish side Sevilla FC to newly promoted Italian club Venezia FC, signing a contract that will keep him at the Serie A outfit until June 2030.
Venezia announced the signing on Thursday, describing the Super Eagles forward as a key addition to their long-term project as they prepare for life in Italy’s top flight.
The 26-year-old arrives in Venice following an impressive career journey that has taken him through Norway, France and Spain. Adams began his professional career with Norwegian club Sogndal IL in 2018, where he scored 16 goals and provided six assists in 56 appearances.
His performances earned him a move to Lillestrøm SK, where he further established himself as a prolific goalscorer. Across two seasons with the Norwegian side, Adams recorded 28 goals and seven assists in 50 appearances and also featured in UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers.
In 2023, he secured a move to French Ligue 1 club Montpellier, contributing 13 goals and five assists in 49 matches before earning a transfer to Spanish giants Sevilla in January 2025.
During his time at Sevilla, the Nigerian forward made 37 appearances, scoring 10 goals and registering four assists before sealing his move to Venezia.
At international level, Adams has represented Nigeria at youth and senior levels. After earning two caps for the Flying Eagles, he progressed to the Super Eagles, where he has scored six goals in 15 appearances.
Speaking after completing the move, Adams said Venezia’s ambition played a major role in his decision to join the club.
“I chose to come here because I see the extraordinary project Venezia is building, and I want to contribute to writing a new chapter in its history,” he said.
The striker also praised the club’s supporters, describing their passion and loyalty as unique.
“I’ve seen so many videos of the matches, and I’ve been impressed by their constant support. The energy and passion they convey are unique,” Adams added.
The former Sevilla forward believes Venezia deserve their place in Serie A and expressed his determination to help the club establish itself among Italy’s elite.
Adams’ arrival is expected to boost Venezia’s attacking options as the newly promoted side looks to secure its top-flight status. The Nigerian will be tasked with leading the club’s goalscoring efforts as they embark on a new Serie A campaign.
