Former Liverpool and Newcastle United star Andy Carroll is experiencing a remarkable resurgence in France.
The 35-year-old is already looking ahead to the end of his career but wants to achieve a special milestone before hanging up his boots.
Carroll has been on fire for Bordeaux in France’s fourth tier, scoring six goals already this season, reminding fans of the potential he failed to reach.
Now, the former England international is determined to share the field with his 14-year-old son before he hangs up his boots.
He told L’Equipe:
“The goal is to do a LeBron James, meaning to play on the same team as my oldest son, Lucas, who is 14. It would be wonderful to experience that, in Bordeaux or elsewhere.”
Inspired by NBA legend LeBron James’ recent stint alongside his son Bronny at the Los Angeles Lakers, Carroll hopes to replicate this heartwarming feat with Lucas.
Carroll’s French revival has been impressive, but sharing the pitch with his son would be a truly unforgettable experience. Especially for a player who promised so much but delivered little.
