Angola, Guinea, and Senegal all recorded key victories on Saturday at the 2025 AfroBasket.
Hosts Angola edged South Sudan 66-64 to seal their third straight win and book a place in the quarterfinals, with defense proving decisive after overturning an early 7-0 deficit.

South Sudan, who had thrashed Angola at the 2023 World Cup, dropped to 1-2 and will now play the Classification Round alongside Guinea, who beat Libya 83-55 to finish second in Group C. Tidijan Keita led Guinea with 14 points, while Alpha Diallo impressed in his first start.

In Group D, Senegal staged a dramatic late comeback to defeat Mali 80-70. Brancou Badio and Jean Jacques Boissy scored 17 points apiece, with Moustapha Diop adding 16, as the Lions overturned a fourth-quarter deficit to close on an 11-0 run. Siriman Kanoute top-scored with 20 for Mali, but his side could not withstand Senegal’s late surge.
