Southampton’s wretched run of form continued as they lost 2-1 to Crystal Palace to leave them rooted to the bottom of the Premier League.
The win was a sweet one for Palace, as it extended their unbeaten run in year-ending Premier League games to six.
Eberechi Eze’s stunning volley in the second half proved to be the winner after Trevoh Chalobah’s header had leveled the score following Tyler Dibling’s opener for the Saints.
Palace dominated the game, creating numerous chances, with Eze’s goal being his fourth against Southampton.
Paul Onuachu and Joe Aribo started the game and were both taken off around the hour-mark after an ineffective showing.
The win gives Palace a six-point cushion from the relegation zone, while Southampton remains at the foot of the table, nine points adrift, with new boss Ivan Jurić overseeing back-to-back defeats in his first two games in charge.
