‘Arsenal are the new Stoke City’ – Berbatov

Man United legend, Dimitar Berbatov has criticised Arsenal’s over-reliance on set-pieces to score goals, comparing them to the Stoke City managed by Tony Pulis who were known for their set-pieces.

This came after Arsenal’s 2-0 win over United at the Emirates, with their two goals coming from corner kicks. Jurrien Timber opened the scoring after heading home a precise delivery from Declan Rice before William Saliba doubled the lead from another corner.

Speaking on Amazon Prime Video, Berbatov humorously stated: “Probably the Premier League is the only league in the world where you have so many players around the goalkeeper, pushing, shoving, making chaos”.

“Normally it is going to be a foul. Not here. You need to be strong. And that’s probably why he (Ruben Amorim) was watching from the side, he was like, ‘What is going on with my keeper?’ You need to work on that. As we joke, Arsenal is the new Stoke City, right? Depending on set-pieces, which can give you the win, as it was today.”

Arsenal will be in action on Sunday as they make a short trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham.
