Arsenal’s search for a top-class striker continues into the January transfer window, with Mikel Arteta identifying RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko as the perfect signing to bolster their attack.
Victor Osimhen was reportedly Arsenal’s primary target, but a deal now seems unlikely to materialize, at least not until the summer window.
With Osimhen off the table, Arteta has turned his attention to Sesko, who has impressed with 11 goals and 5 assists in 23 games for RB Leipzig.
Sesko’s aerial ability, composed finishing, and relatively lower price tag of €60million make him an attractive alternative to Osimhen.
Arsenal’s current striking options, including Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, have failed to deliver consistently, and Sesko’s arrival could provide the necessary boost to their title challenge.
The Gunners began the new year with a 3-1 win over Brentford and Arteta has re-iterated the need to keep reeling off the wins, in order to take advantage of any slip-ups from Liverpool.
