Arsenal zoom into last 8 after two-all draw against PSV

The Gunners returns to the last eight of the champions league for the second consecutive season after seeing off PSV on Wednesday night.

Having done much of the damage in the first leg, Mikel Arteta’s men settled for a two-all draw against the visitors at the Emirates.

The Dutch side came from behind two times to earn a respectable result unlike the first leg sheer embarrassment in front of their home fans.

Oleksandr Zinchenko gave the Gunners the lead on the sixth minute from a fantastic strike from the edge of the box.

Former Inter Milan wing back, Ivan Perisic equalized 12 minutes later from a well-taken strike inside the penalty area.

Declan Rice put Arsenal back into the lead a few minutes before halftime with a header from Raheem Sterling’s cross.

The first half ended 2-1 in favour of the Gunners as they increasd the aggregate score to a seven-goal deficit.

However, the Gunners couldn’t keep their lead till the end of the game as Moroccan forward Couhaib Driouech equalized in the 70th minute with a brilliant lob over Raya into an empty net.

Nevertheless, Arsenal progressed to the quarter-finals 9-3 on aggregate to become the second English side to score 9+ goals over two legs of a UEFA Champions League knockout match, after Manchester City scored 10 goals v Schalke in the 2018-19 round of sixteen tie.
