Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has completed his international switch from England to Nigeria after receiving approval from FIFA, making him eligible to represent the Super Eagles at senior level.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper, who was born in London to Nigerian parents, previously featured for England at youth levels, including the U16, U17 and U18 teams. His decision to commit his international future to Nigeria now opens the door for a first senior call-up.

Okonkwo’s performances this season have played a key role in drawing attention to his international future. Okonkwo has made 42 appearances in all competitions and has kept ten clean sheets in 37 Championship games this campaign, the joint seventh-highest in the division.

His consistency and shot-stopping ability have made him one of the standout goalkeepers in the league, strengthening Nigeria’s depth in a position that has seen competition in recent years.

With FIFA’s approval now confirmed, Okonkwo becomes available for selection by the Super Eagles, adding another option for the national team as they continue to build ahead of upcoming international competitions.
