Football Club Barcelona are on the brink of qualifying for the Champions League semi-finals after humiliating Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their quarter-final clash.
The Catalan Giants showed no mercy as they completely decimated the 2024 finalist at the Llus Companys Olympic Stadium on Wednesday night.
Barcelona’s front three, Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha, got on the scoresheet in the convincing win.
The visitors barely settled into the match before Barcelona began their onslaught on their defense. Gregor Kobel made two fantastic saves in two minutes to deny Yamal and Lewandowski.
Raphinha gave Barcelona the lead after 25 minutes from a simple finish after he was played through on goal by Pau Curbasi.
Borussia Dortmund came close to getting an equalizer just before the halftime break, but Wojciech Szczesny made a good save to deny Jamie Gittens.
Minutes into the second half, Robert Lewandowski doubled the lead with a close-range header from Raphinha’s pin-point cross.
Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal scored in the space of ten minutes to completely take the game beyond the visitors.
Barcelona also put up a great performance in defense as they stopped the visitors from operating around their defense line.
The match ended 4-0 as Barcelona extended their unbeaten run to 23 matches – 19 wins and four draws.
