Barcelona delivered a resounding 7-1 victory over Valencia at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Montjuïc ending their four-game winless streak in LaLiga.
Barcelona wasted no time asserting their dominance. In the 3rd minute, Frenkie de Jong capitalized on a precise pass from Lamine Yamal, slotting the ball into the net to open the scoring.
Just five minutes later, Ferran Torres, a former Valencia player, doubled the lead by converting a cross from Alejandro Balde. The Catalan side continued their relentless attack, with Raphinha making it 3-0 in the 13th minute after skillfully maneuvering past goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Fermín López added to Valencia’s woes, scoring the fourth goal in the 24th minute with a stunning shot into the top corner. He further extended the lead by netting his second goal just before halftime, bringing the score to a staggering 5-0.
Despite the comfortable lead, Barcelona maintained their intensity in the second half. Valencia managed to pull one back in the 59th minute through Hugo Duro, who took advantage of a lapse in Barcelona’s defense.
However, the home team quickly responded through Robert Lewandowski who scored his 17th goal of the season, further solidifying his position as LaLiga’s top scorer. The rout was completed when Valencia’s Tárrega inadvertently turned the ball into his own net in the 75th minute, sealing the 7-1 scoreline.
This emphatic victory propels Barcelona to third place in the LaLiga standings, narrowing the gap to two points behind Atlético Madrid.
The team’s resurgence comes at a crucial time, as they prepare for their final group stage match in the Champions League against Atalanta, with the opportunity to secure the top spot in their group.
