It was the Jude Bellingham show in the Spanish capital as Real Madrid defeated Getafe 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu as they moved within touching distance of table toppers, Barcelona.
The first half was dominated by the hosts with the two best opportunities coming from long-range shots from Lucas Vázquez in the 18th minute and from Juan Iglesias in the 27th minute.
The breakthrough came on the half-hour mark. Rodrygo swung in a corner and Antonio Rüdiger was brought down inside the box by Nyon. Jude Bellingham was on hand to slot home the penalty to give Madrid the lead.
Madrid doubled the lead not long after with Bellingham turning provider for Mbappe who finished expertly from outside the box in the 38th minute.
Madrid were awarded another penalty after the restart before it was overturned after a VAR review. Getafe came close to scoring when Christantus Uche hit the woodwork with the game approaching the hour mark before John Patrick hit the woodwork late in the game.
It was not enough, however, as Madrid took all three points as they moved within a point of Barcelona with a game in hand.
