Brighton have finally won a Premier League game after eight previous attempts.
The Seagulls have been on a winless run in the league since November with two losses and eight drawn matches.
However, Fabian Hurzeler’s men put an end to the long wait with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Ipswich on Thursday.
Two second half goals from Japanese winger Kaoru Mitoma and substitute Georgino Rutter gave the visitors maximum points on the night.
The first half was quite contested as both sides created goal bound chances to take the lead.
However, the first 45 minutes ended goalless with Ipswich having three shots on target while the visitors had two.
Kaoru Mitoma gave the Seagulls the lead a few minutes into the second half as Mark O’Riley layed a beautiful pass towards him.
The winger aimed for goal with a right footed strike in the box which landed into the middle of the net.
Christian Walton denied Joao Pedro from doubling the lead on the 67 minute.
The Brazilian forward directed his shot towards the top corner but Walton made a brilliant save to keep the scoreline unchanged.
Georgino Rutter scored from a rebound in the box to double the lead for Brighton after a VAR review with less than 10 minutes to the end of regular time.
The win takes the Seagulls to 9th position on the log while Ipswich remain in the relegation zone.
