Chelsea cruised into the Carabao Cup fourth round with a resounding 5-0 victory over Barrow at Stamford Bridge. Christopher Nkunku stole the show with a clinical hat-trick, kicking off the rout with two well-taken goals inside the opening 20 minutes.
The Blues never looked back, as Paul Farman’s own goal from Joao Felix’s free-kick made it 3-0 by halftime. Pedro Neto added a fourth shortly after the restart, and the red-hot Nkunku sealed his treble in the 75th minute, exploiting Farman’s mistake to complete the demolition.
Meanwhile, Manchester City bounced back from Sunday’s grueling draw against Arsenal with a 2-1 win over Watford. Jeremy Doku and Matheus Nunes scored first-half goals, enough to secure a spot in the fourth round despite a much-changed lineup.
Watford goalkeeper Jonathan Bond denied City a more emphatic victory with several key saves in the second half, while Savinho rattled the post. Tom Ince’s late strike reignited hope for the Championship side, but ultimately proved insufficient.
Elsewhere in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup action, Aston Villa edged Wycombe 2-1, while Leicester City required penalties to overcome Walsall.
