Barcelona’s hopes of a comfortable win were dashed as Celta Vigo staged a stunning late comeback to earn a 2-2 draw in La Liga on Saturday.
The Catalan giants were cruising with a 2-0 lead, courtesy of goals from Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, before disaster struck.
Marc Casadó’s red card in the 82nd minute proved to be the turning point, as Celta Vigo capitalized on their numerical advantage to score two goals in as many minutes.
Alfon González and Hugo Álvarez were the heroes for Celta Vigo, netting the equalizing goals in the 84th and 86th minutes, respectively.
The draw marked Barcelona’s first stalemate of the season, leaving them five points clear of Atletico Madrid in second.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, sit third but have two games in hand, which could see them close the gap to just a point if they win their outstanding matches.
