Champions League: Ademola Lookman dazzles, scores in Atalanta’s big win

The reigning African Footballer of the Year came off the bench to score his first goal of the year and also provided an assist.

Ademola Lookman was one of the stand-out players as Atalanta breezed past Sturm Graz on the resumption of the UEFA Champions League.

The reigning African Footballer of the Year came off the bench to score his second goal of the year and also provided an assist.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s men were more than a handful for their Austrian visitors as they dominated from start to finish.

Mateo Retegui continued his goal-scoring form for La Dea as he gave them the lead twelve minutes into the match.

The young Italian striker controlled Davide Zappacosta’s pass and calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net.

Charles De Ketelaere doubled the lead four minutes into the second half from Ademola Lookman’s pass but the goal was ruled for offside.

Mario Pasalic eventually scored for the home side to double the lead.

Moments later Charles De Ketelaere scored a legitimate goal three minutes after the hour mark to give Atalanta a 3-0 lead.

Ademola Lookman, having dazzled on the field of play, scored his second goal of the year from a header in the 90th minute.

Lookamn beat a host of defenders around the edge of the opposition box effortlessly before laying a pass to Marco Brescianini who scored Atalanta’s final goal of the night.

The match ended 5-0 as Atalanta ended their five-game winless run as they stay third on the log with 14 points.
