Nollywood actor Charles Okocha has denied biting singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, during their celebrity boxing rematch in Lagos.
Okocha dismissed the allegation while speaking at AY and Akpororo’s comedy night, insisting that he could not have bitten the singer because he wore a mouth guard throughout the bout.
Portable had alleged that Okocha bit him on the back and locked his neck during the chaotic contest, tagged “Unfinished Business,” which was held at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Responding to the claim, Okocha said, “Portable has been going around telling people I bit him on the back. I was wearing a mouth guard; how is that even possible? He was just lying.”
The actor further took a swipe at the singer, saying he would rather chew grass than bite him.
“I would rather chew grass than bite him. I do not want to catch rabies. Have you seen how Portable’s skin looks? Hell no, I would not do that. He should just accept defeat,” he added.
Okocha also repeated his denial during an appearance on TVC Entertainment, maintaining that he did not bite his opponent.
The rematch ended in controversy after the fight descended into a wrestling-like scuffle, with the referee struggling to separate both men before security personnel intervened.
Portable subsequently walked out of the ring before the contest could be officially concluded, attracting boos from spectators. He was later brought back into the venue and disqualified, handing Okocha the victory.
Following the controversial ending, Portable released a diss track aimed at the officiating and the events surrounding the fight. In the song, he mocked the referee for allegedly looking away during the altercation, accused Okocha of attempting to choke and bite him, and threatened to settle their differences through local wrestling if further provoked.
The defeat marked another setback for Portable in the boxing ring. He had previously lost to content creator Carter Efe by unanimous decision on May 1 at the same venue in a bout televised on DAZN.
After that defeat, Portable claimed he was paid ₦50m for completing one round and said the organisers had promised him ₦100m if he lasted two rounds.
