Chelsea ended their four-game winless streak across all competitions on Saturday evening with a comfortable victory over Everton at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues last won a game on November 25 – a  3-0 win over Barcelona in a UEFA Champions League matchday five fixture.a

Enzo Maresca’s men had played four matches without a win: two draws and two losses – the latest being a 2-1 defeat to Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta on Tuesday.

However, two first-half goals from Cole Palmer, on his return from injury, and Malo Gusto gave Chelsea the maximum points over the visitors.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Salah returned to the Liverpool matchday squad after he was left out of the trip to Milan in midweek.

Arne Slot and the hierarchy of the club resolved to drop the 33-year-old forward following his outburst to the media on his lack of minutes in recent matches.

The Egyptian forward was named in the squad but came off the bench in the first half to replace the injured Joe Gomez.

Liverpool, off their 1-0 win over Inter Milan on Tuesday, kept another clean sheet as they overpowered Brighton at Anfield.

Hugo Ekitike bagged a brace – the only goals of the match to give Liverpool the win. Mohammed Salah registered his third assist of the season as he departs for AFCON.
