Chelsea have been dealt a significant injury setback ahead of their Premier League tie with Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday.
Midfielder Romeo Lavia has been ruled out of the match after suffering a setback in training.
Manager Enzo Maresca confirmed the news in his pre-match press conference, stating:
“He was doing better in terms of progress, but unfortunately, one or two days ago, he had a small problem, so we will see in the next hours.”

Lavia’s injury woes have been a recurring theme since his move to Chelsea from Southampton in the summer of 2023.
The 21-year-old Belgian has struggled to gain momentum due to a series of injury problems, and this latest setback will only add to his frustration.
Chelsea will now have to adapt without Lavia as they prepare to face Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Thursday.
