Chukwueze glued to the bench as Santiago Gimenez secures Milan’s narrow win over Verona

Samuel Chukwueze cheered his teammates from the bench in AC Milan’s slim win over Verona on the last Serie A match on Saturday.

The Super Eagles winger was an unused substitute as the Rossoneri secured a third consecutive league win under new manager Sergio Conçeiçao.

The foward has now being benched for the third consecutive league match.

Nevertheless, AC Milan got back to winning after a disappointing 1-0 loss to Feyenoord in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League playofss on Tuesday.

Santiago Tomas Gimenez made the difference on the night as he broke the deadlock in the 75th minute.

The Mexican striker initially gave the home side the lead early in the match but the referee ruled out his goal for offisde.

AC Milan dominated possession but couldn’t find a breakthrough against a resolute Verona defense.

However, Santiago Gimenez’s close range header from Rafael Laeo’s cross broke the deadlock as AC Milan took the lead.

The goal secured maximum points for the Rossoneri as they move to the seventh spot on the log 41 points after 24 matches.
