Elsewhere, the goals were plentiful: Rakow put in a commanding performance to thrash SK Rapid 4-1, while Hamrun defeated Lincoln Red Imps 3-1. There were comfortable home wins for AZ Alkmaar and Lech Poznan, both winning 2-0 against Shelbourne and Lausanne respectively.
In a result that will please the home fans, Slovan Bratislava edged out Rayo Vallecano 2-1, and Omonia secured a vital 2-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv. The biggest upset came from the Italian side, as Fiorentina fell to a 0-1 defeat at the hands of AEK Athens.
