In an AFC Champions League fixture, Cristiano Ronaldo made a spectacular debut with Al Nassr as they recorded a 2-1 win against Al Rayyan at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Ronaldo continued his goalscoring run by using his weaker foot to score.
The Portuguese superstar got the ball on the right side of the penalty box in the 76th minute, with the team leading 1-0, and he shot with his left foot as the ball curled into the net.
With both hands lifted in the air, the 39-year-old raced to the field’s corner and dedicated the goal to his father, who would have turned 71.
The game ended 2-1 in Nassr’s favor after the strike proved to be the difference as Roger Guedes of Al Rayyan drew one back late in the second half.
With the victory, Nassr shot up to third place in the Champions League group rankings.
Ronaldo, who was sidelined by a viral infection during the Champions League opener was available to face the Qatari team.
Four times he went close to scoring, one of which was ruled off-side by the narrowest of margins.
Four days later, Al Nassr plays its next game against Al Orobah FC as they aim to win the Saudi Pro League for the first time since Ronaldo joined the Saudi team.
