Atalanta’s quest for the Serie A title suffered a significant setback after a 1-0 loss to Lazio on Sunday evening.
The loss, coupled with their 1-0 defeat to Fiorentina last weekend, has left Gian Piero Gasperini’s team in third place in the league table.

Reigning CAF Player of the Year, Ademola Lookman started for Atalanta, while Lazio fielded Nigerian star Dele Bashiru.
The first half was goalless, with both teams struggling to create scoring opportunities. However, the second half saw Lazio capitalize on Atalanta’s mistakes.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s headed pass found Gustav Isaksen, who scored the winning goal.
Lazio held on for the narrow victory, moving into sixth place in the Serie A standings, and barring a miracle, Atalanta’s title challenge is unlikely to recover from this blow.
