Jota joined Liverpool in a £45 million deal from Wolves and has made an impressive start to his career at Anfield with seven goals in all competitions so far.
The 23-year-old scored an impressive hat-trick in Liverpool’s 5-0 demolition of Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
And Duff admits he is surprised by how Jota has been able to make a quick impact for the Premier League champions.
‘You have to say, the price of £41 million, potentially rising to £45m [with add-ons], is an absolute bargain,’ Duff told RTE.
‘Great timing, great speed, great strength, the calmness while somebody is grabbing your jersey is top class.
‘That calmness, the first touch, movement, what foot is he – left or right? I’m not even sure. Absolutely top class.
‘The speed they have, everyone talks about Salah and Mane and their pace, Jota looks to have similar type of speed himself.
‘He’s top class and a serious, serious talent.’
‘The more you watch him might be similar to what Klopp was saying, you’re surprised, you think, ‘I didn’t know he had that in his locker’.
‘I didn’t know he was so sleight of foot, I didn’t know he was that comfortable off both feet, even the speed, it looks like he’s found another gear.
‘Like I said, a serious talent and he’s going to have a big season, for sure.’
