Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi has completed a permanent move to Bundesliga club Hamburger SV
The 27-year-old joins Hamburg from French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice as the German club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new Bundesliga season.
Moffi has been handed the number nine shirt at Hamburg and becomes the club’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window.
The Nigeria international is now set to begin a new chapter in Germany, where he will look to establish himself as a key figure in Hamburg’s attack.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Moffi said the coach, the club’s supporters and Hamburg’s overall direction convinced him to make the move.
“The coach was really convincing in our discussions. The location, with its fantastic fans, and the club’s overall direction also played a role in my decision,” Moffi said.
He added that his family was excited by the opportunity to join the historic German club.
Moffi also revealed his desire to contribute both in front of goal and through his work for the team.
“As a striker, I naturally love scoring goals, but I also love working for the team and keeping the whole group together,” he said.
Hamburg board member Kathleen Krüger also expressed confidence in the Nigerian forward, describing him as a strong fit for the club’s approach.
Moffi arrives at Hamburg with experience from several European leagues, having represented clubs in six different countries during his career.
The striker has scored 88 goals and provided 13 assists in 228 competitive club appearances.
His move to Hamburg now gives the Super Eagles forward an opportunity to revive his club career in the Bundesliga and make his mark in one of Europe’s top leagues.
